What is Carbon Monoxide?

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless, and tasteless gas produced by incomplete combustion of fuels. Furnaces, boilers, water heaters, and fireplaces can all produce CO if not properly maintained or vented.

Because CO is impossible to detect without a proper alarm, it is often called the “silent killer.”

Critical Stats

  • Over 200 Canadians die from CO poisoning each year
  • CO is the #1 cause of poisoning deaths in North America
  • Most incidents are preventable with proper maintenance

Signs of CO Exposure
